Hi, Lucaz here! If you’ve spent any time in Miami’s late-night universe, there’s a good chance our paths crossed at Club Space, Factory Town, III Points, Floyd, or one of the city’s many beautifully chaotic corners. Art Basel 2025 kicks off today, which means it’s the perfect moment to share a little intel for both the first-timers and the seasoned Basel warriors. Art Basel week in Miami isn’t just an event; it’s a full-blown ecosystem. It’s a marathon disguised as a festival disguised as a citywide fever dream. Unless you plan it right, Basel will gladly chew you up and spit you onto Biscayne, wondering what dimension you just visited. I’ve spent two decades navigating the intersection of nightlife, art, community, wellness, and ohhh, the beautiful chaos. I’ve hosted more people than I can count, built dance floors that became homes, and I somehow still wake up for breathwork the next morning.
consider this your Basel Survival Bible, written by someone who lives in the eye of the miami hurricane
Pace Yourself (because Basel doesn’t care about your bedtime)
Basel is not a sprint. It’s a metaphysical endurance test. Everyone makes the same mistake: going too hard, too fast, too early. Save the heroics for the weekend…and the sunrise hours 😉
Pro Tips
- Pick ONE main event per day
- Build recovery time into your schedule
- If you accidentally end up catching the sunrise….congratulations, the Space terrace has chosen you
Hydration is your greatest wingman
Basel dehydrates your faster than a warehouse rave in July. Your Oura/CGM/Whoop data will confirm it. A hydrated raver is one that can stay in weapons-grade Basel Mode.
Pro Tips
- Santa Cruz electrolytes or coconut water
- Rolus electrolyte cans (also available at Space)
- One water per alcohol drink
Carefully curate your Basel crew
Art Basel amplifies everything: inspiration, chaos, friendship, fatigue. Choose people with good energy, good pacing, good taste, and boundaries. Avoid toxic “let’s see where the night takes us” wanderers.
Don’t lose yourself trying to be everywhere
Basel whispers sweet nothings into everyone’s ears. Curate, don’t chase. Energy is currency, so spend it wisely. Check the events guide here and plan your nights intentionally.
Make sure to eat (and while you’re at it, eat well)
Anchor yourself with one real meal a day that your body will thank you for, but avoid heavy meals before a major night out. As somebody who likes to eat as well as I party, here is my Elite Art Basel Food Lineup:
- Mr. Omakase: clean, intentional, restorative
- NIU Kitchen: creativity meets comfort
- Flora: vegetable-forward freshness for brekkie
- Fresh Kitchen: fast, reliable, gut-friendly
- Ghee: soul food that hits the spirit
- Sunny’s: steakhouse and ambience with Miami swagger
- Vice City Bean: caffeine, pastries, clarity
- Fiorito: Argentinian meats cooked to perfection and a laidback environment
- The Joyce Window: perfect burger and milkshake for the gnarly hangover.
Implement (or Maintain) Daily Wellness Rituals
This is where people underestimate me…Wellness is how I stay superhuman during Basel. Work Hard, Play Hard, Chill Hard.
Early Night Disco Nap Essentials
- Red light
- Mouth tape
- Sleep mask
- Magnesium
- Tranquinol (natural herbs)
- Mushroom gummies (reishi, saffron, GABA, corydalis, chamomile)
Pre-Rave Rituals (where the magic actually begins)
Every rave begins before the rave. Here’s part of my ever-changing ritual:
- Sunrise Walk – Wake up before the world. Go outside. Touch grass. Regulate the circadian rhythm, reset the nervous system, ground the soul.
- Peptide Protocol – NAD+ and BPC-157 subQ injections before breakfast. Boosts cellular energy, enhances brain function, supports DNA repair, promotes metabolic health, promotes tissue healing with anti-inflammatory effects and a central nervous sytem reset. Make sure you work with a licensed professional!
- The Supercharged Morning Cocktail: First glass of water infused with Santa Cruz electrolytes, Creatine, Fulvic Mineral Complex, Liposomal Vitamin C, Vitamins D + K, Probiotic cocktail….and it’s possible I’m forgetting 1 or 3 in there.
- Proteins & Nutrients: Grass-fed protein shake stacked with dozens of nutrients + collagen.
- Cold Shower + Humming: Yes humming with your mouth. It regulates your vagus nerve, elevates mood, and builds resilience.
- Orpheus 3-Step Skincare Routine: The Resurrection Line is a lifestyle. My skin elasticity changed dramatically after Orpheus.
- The Roadie: Grind organic beans, Moka pot on the stove, Cafe con Leche topped with ghee. Fuel the drive (or Uber) to the party.
Real-Time Optimization at The Rave
This is where your inner marathon monk takes over. Stay hydrated between spirits, take ginger shots, drink coconut water, grilled cheeses are essential rave carbs, and caviar gives you that omega-3 brain fuel. Keep that engine running smoothly.
Aftercare is everything
This is the difference between surviving Basel and transcending it. Grab more Santa Cruz electrolytes and have my essential post-hero meal (4 sunny-side up corn/soy-free eggs + kimchi + avocado + local greens). Listen to binaural beats or guided sleep meditation and repeat your disco nap ritual.
Snag Some Spa Time (Realistically Once During the Week)
Take the wellness to the professionals at least once during the week. Here are some top recs.
- Endosphere at Zeugma Med Spa: The Compressive Microvibration reduces cellulite, boosts lymphatic drainage, increases circulation, tones muscles, increases collagen/elastin, tightens complexion, relieves inflammation, stimulates endorphins.
- IVs from VitaWellnessBy CJ (mobile)
- Peptides from The RemedyIV
- Vinyasa classes at AhanaYoga
- Deep Tissue Massage (source undisclosed – can’t risk overbooking….sorry)
If you feel stressed…
Take L-Theanine. It’s the holy grail. Seriously.
Daily Non-Negotiables
- Touch grass
- Soak the sun
- Hot boy/girl neighborhood walks
- Sauna
- Moments of awareness
- Don’t forget to breathe intentionally
- Take a dip in the ocean (ok, this one is not daily but as much as possible)
Basel Aftermath: Returning to Center
When the dust settles and Miami exhales again, the real recovery begins. Cole Knight and I have a passion project called Duality Is Reality, and it’s one of the deepest anchors in our lives. Sound meditation keeps us in check and helps declutter the mind while moving through nightlife, creativity, and constant stimulation.
We host monthly sound meditations that begin with breathwork and vocal toning before guiding you through an array of overtone instruments designed to drop you into a deeply restorative state. It’s a journey inward, a reminder that your nervous system is your true home. Our next offerings are December 14th and December 21st. Message us to join.
Outside of festival weeks, another one of my non-negotiables is martial arts, which is mostly boxing lately. Getting back into the ring is crucial for my mental health. It keeps my rhythm sharp, my timing clean, and my mind quiet. As one of my ring mates says, “Boxing demands presence. It’s meditation at high speed.” I’m grateful for my teachers, Sifu Anthony Fontana, Alessia Cassara, Fernando Rodriguez, for pushing me across the threshold. Basel will take you to the edges of creativity and chaos, but remember to return to yourself, through sound, breath, movement, or the discipline of a punch. That’s where transformation begins.
Remember Why We Do This
We gather for music, connection, community, inspiration, and a damn good time. For the real ones, Basel isn’t about flexing, it’s about feeling. It’s about creating worlds, not just entering them. Take care of yourself and your people.
I’ll see you in the vortex between Space, Factory Town, and everything in-between. I’ll be the one in the center of the storm…staying calm…I hope. – Lucaz
